The power of the positive mind

October 23, 2015

I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve read something on the subject. Oddly enough though, I personally never understood the true significance of the power that the psyche and the mind have on our bodies, feelings, and lives in general until I read this little book called The Secret. And no, I don’t live in a cave, and yes, I have no clue as to why it took me so long to actually read it. To be perfectly honest, I used to think it was just a bunch of mumbo jumbo and never really paid much attention to it. I thought it was either some sort of secret cult or some philosophical jargon I would never understand. I truly always believed that life was in part due to luck and in part to what actions you undertook.

As I’ve recently been undergoing many changes in my life, somehow, something drew me to the Secret and I decided to finally read the book. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s changed my life. Completely. My outlook on life in general, my career, and most importantly love.

The main message is centered around the Law of Attraction. Basically anything you have at this moment you’ve attracted. Your mind and thoughts control your feelings and how you feel at any given time. The amazing thing is that you actually have immense control over your thoughts. You can turn anything you think or want into a positive affirmation and reach wonderful results. And in turn, you will attract amazing things into your life. I suggest you read the book, or alternatively watch the movie if you’re a little lazy, to gain a better understanding because this is simply my own interpretation of the message contained in the Secret and how it’s personally changed my life. Simply know that the power to do or obtain anything fully lies within you.

How to have a positive mind every day:

1- Turn every single “I don’t want” into an “I want”. For example, if you constantly say to yourself “I don’t want to date another loser”, you’re simply attracting more losers into your life by that mere thought. Instead, twist it around and repeat to yourself ” I want to date a good man” and the Universe will bring forth good men. I know, it sounds too simple. But try it, it won’t kill you.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” – Albert Einstein

2- Stay away from negative people, and instead surround yourself with positive people. You know those people who may seem entertaining but they’re constantly whining? “I hate my job!”, “the kids are driving me crazy”, “why is the weather so awful again?”. I’m sure you know who I’m talking about. Well stay away from them, far far away. As much as possible, seriously. They’ll drain the positive energy out of you without you even realizing it.

3- Every morning or evening, list a few things you’re grateful for. It can be as mundane as that delicious sandwich you had at lunch, to something as wonderful as your family’s good health. We all have some things to be grateful for. Recognizing these has a tremendously positive effect on the mind and will in turn attract more of these good things into your life.

4- Find out what you truly want, whether a good job, a life companion, whatever it is, and train your mind to believe you already have it. Yes, it sounds crazy, I know. And I thought so at first as well, but then I tested it. And it’s been working. I’m not kidding. Believing you already have what it is you’re aiming for will keep you motivated. Sure, it won’t drop into your lap from the sky suddenly one day. It’s not magic. But the power of your positive thinking will shift things into place and naturally guide you into taking decisions or actions that will lead you to your ultimate goal. Stop rolling your eyes, and just have fun with it.

I’m still in the process of discovering the monumental power that my mind has on my life, and I’m excited to keep you updated as I continue on this wonderful journey. I’ll be living proof that you can change your life with the simple power of positive thinking.
