Why do we call everyone friends? I think it is because acquaintance is such a long word, it sounds almost too fancy to use it every day. Friends are friends, and not anyone we meet and hang out with. Have we forgotten good old “Hard times will always reveal true friends”? We must come up with a better word for acquaintances. Mates? Work mate, school mate. Or maybe there is a better word?

Like friends with kids and without kids….some friends without kids have empathy for parents but others don’t. I am not saying they are wrong because they don’t know how it is like to be a parent.
Others friends open up about theirs live and are good listeners as well and others are only for having fun and we ended up labelling their as friends

Someone who I go out with but, cannot rely on when I need help isn’t a friend. This is an acquaintance or someone that I go out with. I think the friendship theory places to much emphasis on friendship when that is not what it actually truly is.
