Sustainable fashion: My honest review of VIVAIA shoes
This post is sponsored by VIVAIA. All opinions are my own.
What is sustainability?
Sustainability is a hot topic. However, I doubt most understand what it truly means. I didn’t until recently to be honest, when I finally had my ‘aha!’ moment while lunching with a friend in Barcelona. She explained to me in the most simplistic of terms that sustainability means ‘meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.‘
Sustainable fashion, more precisely, refers to clothing that is designed, manufactured, distributed, and used in ways that are environmentally and socially friendly. That also means that factory employees are treated fairly and equitably, that the company tries to minimize its carbon footprint when shipping products – and a whole slew of other things we often fail to think about when choosing the brands we purchase from.
Shop sustainably and still look good
VIVAIA shoes are actually beautiful. Take a sneak peek at their website, browse over their various categories (flats, heels, boots etc.) and tell me you don’t agree.
Each pair of shoes is made from 6 recycled plastic bottles, but you’d never know that just looking at them.
I was impressed by how VIVAIA selects its suppliers, choosing only those who meet their sustainability criteria, and ensuring they have a transparent supply chain from plastic bottle to shoe. Any elements that aren’t made from recycled materials are chosen carefully from ethical sources, and recyclable materials prioritized to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the shoe.
Choose comfort, always
I often roll my eyes at women who wear sky high stiletto heels but can’t even stand for an hour. Life is hard enough, why suffer on purpose?!
VIVAIA shoes are comfortable, like seriously comfortable. It feels like wearing slippers or socks. I actually wore my white sneakers to dance all night long at my wedding! Plus they felt so breathable and I just threw them in the washing machine afterwards. I’ll share pictures as soon as I get them from my photographer. I’m sure they’ll turn out great! 🙂
My one piece of advice
Make sure you measure your feet correctly and use their size guide. I made the mistake of choosing a size a tad too big for my feet the first time around. It can be frustrating. Their sizes won’t exactly match what you’re used to so choose carefully.

You’re welcome! 🙂
